Burlington, Ia. Mar, 28, 1943 Sun nite My Dearest: First, I want to apologize for not writing you sooner, but I have been on the move every minute it seems. I rec'd your letter Sat morning, telling me about the interview with the representative from Washington & am sorry about your captaincy, but I think it will surely come along soon. We hope so anyway. Oh honey, wouldn't it be marvelous if you could get to go to Omaha? That would be too good to be true. We musn't even think of such a thing. I shall be hoping all the time though. Honey, I sent you a fried chicken Sat noon and put it special, thinking you would get it for Sunday nite supper, I surely hope you got it & that it wasn't spoiled. I tried to send it express Friday night, but he told me it would be better to send it parcel post. Too bad about Ted being sick and you tell him I hope he has full recovered by now. Give my best regards to Mrs. Honey, Lucretia Edwards died Friday night at eight o'clock & they called asked me to dress her hair. It was a rather hard thing to do, as you know I thought a lot of her. She died
