Burlington, Ia Feb. 15, 1943 Mon. nite 5 PM My Dearest: - Well the day is about over and I am glad. I haven't been very busy this afternoon. I didn't come down until noon today, but I am tired from yesterday. I had the kids over for supper. Did I ever miss you yesterday honey. I'll tell you what I had. Roast chicken, dressing, noodles, mashed potatoes, gravy, jello salad, peppermint ice cream, chocolate cake and coffee. Poor Conrad is the only man left & I think he is feeling it too. He said he felt very conspicuous. They stayed until about eleven thirty & seemed to have a very good time. Your mother ate with us & seemed to enjoy herself very much. But I am always tired after a day like that. I would much rather spend it with you & the family just lounging around and eating popcorn. Lowell Fuller just called me & said he sold your Packard stock & wanted to know if I could get the Certificate. He wanted to know if it was signed. I told him I would go to the bank box tomorrow & get it for him. Then you told me you had told him to turn it over to the bank. Is that right? Maybe we will soon get out of debt yet. Well, I paid the $25.00 on the house today. Enclosed is a receipt. It is due tomorrow. I also looked for the homestead
