Burlington Ia Jan. 24, 1943 Sun. 10:30 pm. My Dearest: Well another lonely sunday has passed. I hope and pray I won't have so many more. I popped some corn this afternoon and thought how much you would like to be here for that. Miss Sarah McCreery was over and I sent a bowl full over to her sister. Tressa Botterhff come to see us this evening and stayed for about 3 1/2 hrs. I was sure glad to have her. She was all broken up. Jay Copeland died last week and of course she had gone with him for years, and thought quite a bit of him. Carl came down to see a few people and asked Tressa to come along, so she went over to Cullen's first and then Vince brought her over here. We had a very nice visit. This has been a very ugly day. It has gotten awfully cold out tonight and the wind has raised and is very disagreeable out. I will be so glad when the good old summer time gets here. Clifford is better, but has stayed in bed all day. He hasn't eaten so very much and is better for him I think. I hope he will be well enough to go to school tomorrow. He said he thought he would be. Well honey, I am so sleepy I just must get to bed and get some sleep as I didn't
