Memphis Wednesday, June 29, 1864 [Ind?] Tenn. Ed. Foster & myself walked our under & other, all the boys in Regt. with located guns shot them at a mark. commenced letter to Pa. the boys of this tent purchased 1 can peaches $1.00 and 1 bunch [illegible] 14 shirts [illegible] due, E. [illegible] burried at 6 1/2 o clock P.M. G. Wheeler put in guard house Thursday 30 cleaned & fixed all my effects ready for muster & inspection for pay. Ed & Charlie on guard camp & pickets A. Parthermer and I fixed our bunks. Found pocket knife in the grass. Colonel Henderson [illegible] ready for [illegible] at 2 1/2 o clock P.M. Ed & charlie on guard three boys in our [illegible] went to guard [illegible] drew 5 days rations Friday, July 1 In Camp near Memphis On Camp guard first relief, each relief [illegible]
