Thursday, August 4, 1864 Lagrange relieved of Guard at 7 slept [illegible] went through this place in the cars for Holly Springs Miss. Harvey Smith visited us from [illegible] left me a letter that [illegible] Dated July 20 Friday 5 Detailed on Picket guard we relieved the same post which on monday [illegible] he shot himself when on picket died in 12 hours wrote letter to [Hannah?] we had some stewed apple [illegible] Saturday 6 Relieved at 8 o'clock a.m. by same no. of [illegible] the boys of Co G. that [illegible]
