the Christmas vacation & am obliged to wash the dishes evry morning, but I do not generally wash them more than once a week, so you see it not so very bad after all. We had some tall times here during the vacatinon of Christmas, which lasted two weeks. I attended two or three parties which I assure you went off in fine style. The first one was given by the ladies of the town, & I think was rather the best although I did not enjoy myself as well at it, as I did at the Second, the reason was I did not become very well acquainted with the ladies. The next one was given by the students in returne for the one given by the girls, I think there must have been upwards of fifty couple in attendance, every fellow being obliged to one of the fair sex with him which you see was another rub on me, as I am not used to such things. But taking all things into consideration I got along very well. I made out to find an old maid, on the dark side of twenty five, who as my room mate declares had lost her teeth three years ago, but I did not care for that, as I knew she would not be so dangerous about biting.
