My Dearest Bess. Sept 1 1918. Well instead of getting up early to go hunting chickens I arose early but for a different purpose. I awakened at 6 oc. and proceeded to roll my bedding put it into a sack and at present we are loading for the train. It has a good deal of the appearance of a circus breaking camp. We will leave here a 10 oclock ie will take train at that time. I am quite enthusiastic about leaving this country. I am in my steady run of luck. When it gets cold I go north and when it gets warm I go south. The main trip though as [Empey?] says is west. However that does not bother me at all if I know that you and
