Sept 2nd 18 My dearest Bess, Well it is night again and we are still in Missouri between Kansas City & St Louis. I am writing on a card table and the light is not so very good so you will have to pardon the bum writing. We left Kansas City this morning and when I saw the Great Western pulling out I must say that I wanted very much to run and jump on to it and get home again and see you. However I did not do so and I suppose it will be some time before I see those cars again. We stopped at Moberly Mis. for an hour and a half. Went up town and the Red Cross gave us ice cream and cake and one woman gave me a sweater to give to some of the poor men. It fits me pretty well so unless I get one from
