saw the vast piles of bones corded up in lines. It is down under ground about 100 feet and alleyways running in every direction. Things look pretty good now at the front from the papers and from what the men say. I believe that the thing will not last so very much longer. There is no doubt but that the Americans saved Paris. They say the place was deserted until after the battle of Chateau Thierry. The price of everything is away up here. I don't know whether the amount of money I allowed myself will be sufficient or not but will see later.
