Dec 7, 1942 Dear Dad & Mom Another day with little to do but I expect to work tonight. Played football this morning for exercise had quite a little fun at it. Most of the boys are pretty stiff from yesterday and it took awhile to loosen up the kinks. In the 357th squadron furloughs are being given out but dont expect they will in our squadron. It wouldnt do me any good anyhow as my name is well down the list from the standpoints of service. Many soon have their first anniversary as they enlisted just after Pearl Harbor Im still a rookie tho it seems like Ive been in a long time.
