Mon. 21. My school is making preparations for an exhibition at the close of the term; the scholars seem to be very anxious to have one and are doing all they can in making it a good one. Weather is mild and pleasant. Tues. 22. I visited several young ladies whose assistance I obtained for my exhibition. I also appointed a scrubbing party for next Friday in order to clean our school-house which is extremely dirty. My health is excellent now. Wed. 23. The snow is exceedingly deep in some of the places so that it is extremely difficult to cross those lanes especially running N. and South. People are having the best sleighing which they ever had in Iowa, and great numbers enjoy it. Thurs. 24. Ady's had a grand time this evening preparing sausage meat, the girls put an old dress on me and I mixed the meat for them and I had an excellent time, this is the first time I ever mixed any but I think I did very well. Frid. 25. Although this morning is a very cold one, yet I notice my scholars have prepared themselves with all the necessary articles to clean the S. H. today: I dismissed school this afternoon, and gave the schoolhouse the best cleaning it ever had. Went to Sherfey's and had a fine time tonight.
