Mon. 25 I rose very early because I could not sleep. About 9 o'clock A.M. I went to the school house and arranged every thing as it formerly was. I then had my things taken from there and bade the house farewell. Had very much work to do in the afternoon. In the evening the girls and myself went to Mr. Harless'. We spent a very pleasant evening and returned home about 3 1/2 o'clock A.M. I slept till about 7 o'clock and felt rather unwell all day Tuesday. The weather is exceedingly fine. Tues. 26 I find that our exhibition met with universal approbation and I am complimented on all sides on account of its glorious success. But it is chiefly owning to the willingness of my scholars for they did nobly, and are pretty hard to beat. Wed. 27. Went to town and visited Mr. Oberman's school, I found he did not keep very good order, he had some vocal and instrumental music, I do not like his performances. Had my likeness taken, I also spent considerable time in settling affairs and in looking about the town. Attended a party at Covell's at which some of my best friends were invited and I enjoyed myself exceedingly well. Came home early in the morning. I feel very sleepy on account of being up so late, every late every night for the last few weeks. The weather is very fine, but the roads are muddy.
