Sun. 10 Rose later than usual this morning. I attended divine services and listened to a sermon preached by Rev. Wickard. Saw a number of my old friends. Took a walk. Wrote letters. Read the news. Mon. 11 Made arrangements with Mrs. Ehrhart to wash for me. Attended the bible class this morning. I was put on a declamation which was afterwards changed to an essay for next Monday. Attended a meeting of the [B.M.J?] in which I took an active part of organizing. Tues. 12. The study of Geometry is pretty difficult for me, I spend four or five hours on my lesson. In the afternoon I generally take some exercise, which consists chiefly in playing ball. The weather is very fine. Wedne 13. I studied pretty hard all day, and in the afternoon I went out as usual to play ball, after playing a while, I jumped over a fence and lit slanting with one foot which sprained my left foot, it pained me most unmercifully, yet I managed to get home, I bathed it in salt water, but the pain was not lessened, but apparently increased.
