Fri. 15. The weather is very fine indeed, my school is prosperous, and the progress of my scholars is perceptible, I am satisfied with myself. Made an attempt to have rhetorical exercise but failed to have any thing worthy of notice. Sat. 16 To day I assisted Mr. Ady about the house and in the field, feeling like making myself useful and taking some exercise for my physical wellbeing. Pretty stormy. Sun. 17. Went to meeting at Oak Dale Chapel, when I saw many familiar faces, and felt perfectly at home, it seemed as if I had been absent but a week or so. Saw Josh. Leonard and his family he prospers finely. The weather is pretty fair. Mon. 18. Today I sat in once more for a week of labor in the school-room, I found my number of scholars on the increase. It makes me feel very provoked not to hear any news from our troops. Tues. 19. Nothing of importance took place today. My health is very good at present. Wed. 20 Some progress is perceptible in my school, which gladdens my heart, for I am anxious to improve my school as fast as possible.
