Sat. 21 I did not feel well all day. Lt. Spencer arrived from Island No 10, he looks well, he and our major have had some difficulty. Two more of my men Wm. Martin and John Balinski were discharged. Gen. Buford relieves general Tuttle at this post tomorrow. Capt. Heeler is now provost marshall here. Sun. 22. The weather is quite disagreeable I staid at home the greater part of the day, in the evening I went to see the Ransom Minstrels, but I must say I was badly humbugged. Mon. 23. Visited the Post-Hospital, found Sauer and Strutz in an improving condition, both will return to the Company soon. Saw General Buford. Tues. 24. Received several letters from my friends and answered some, while at the same time I must acknowledge that I am contracting a very lazy habit.
