I told her I was a Catholic then I was all right. I seen Grants Monument they had it all light up it sure was pritty. I seen and walked over the ensain bridge, did you ever here of it befor, its in Lincoln park. This afternoon we half to have our shoes shined and all shoved up to march in the parade. While I was on gard duty a lady came along I tiped my hat and told her she would half to go down the other side of the pier. She said is it real that there is one gentelman in the army, she thanked me and walked away. Quite a S. L. isnt it. And it dident cost me a cent. Ans. at the same place and they will send it to me. Will close for this time your loving Son Francis with lots of kisses. Send Mary Moss at [Mc?] Cook. Nebr one of those pictures. She sent me her's.
