Chicago Ill July 12, 1917 Dear Mother: I got a letter from Mark Burke. I am pretty tired tonight we had another parade this afternoon about 7 miles hiked to Lincoln Park and back, that is where we drill. John and [Name?] went up town, but I owe about ten letters so thought I had better get bussie and ans them. The soldiers get to take the trip across the lake on the Roosevelt for 25 cents any one else it's $1.00. I got a letter from Mary ann. I think it will be some time before I ans.
