The team has gone to Kansas city after provisions i dont think we will leave here before March or April The weather is too bad for us to go now and we are in a very good place a very healthy place too the country there is very nice it is the prettest i have seen in Mo and i have been in St Louis Morgan Benton Hickory Polk green Mouniteau Johnson Cass Bates & Jackson cos and in Jackson Delaware Johnson Miami and Wyandotte cos in Kansas there is where i saw the queen of the West the most beautifulest land that was ever trod on you may talk of some being the queen of the West but She can't come up to Kansas that is what i have seen of it i have only seen a little what i did see there is not a spot in Iowa can beat it We have news from our Regt that there is only 300 of them fit for duty and co G from Allia has no commissioned officer left they are all dead the word came pretty strait i dont know how true it is if it is the case they have suffered very much since we left i am glad we left there and i dont never want to go there again it is a sickly hole they have to drink slough water and it is half mud We have got no pay yet nor wont till next payday which is the 4 of March and we wont get into them unless we are at our regt i will send you 60 dollars then if i am alive us both can send 125 we will send
