Well I must close as Peter wants to write some so write soon and let me know whether you have received any money I also had my state pay sent to Knoxville to George Kruck where the most of Co E had theirs sent to so write soon Edward H Mark to M M Mark and Family write soon Well here i come now lookout I am not in a very good humor at the present they have consolidated us (that is) the 8 Iowa 58th Ill 12 and 14 Iowa together and formed a brigade out of us you may swear it was against our will but it was better for us to do that than to be sent off to work on a fortification in disgrace for munity our Regt is formed into 3 companies which are I C and H so there is no Co E no more but you can still direct your letter to Co E Gen Pope arrived here yesterday with 30,000 troops there is to be another engagement soon and it is not very far off The brigade we are to go into is to be called the Union brigade We will try and do our duty in it the highest officer we have in our co is 5th sergeant Well we are getting along very well we keep our health very well i would like to know who said i was sick i have not been sick for four months but the other day they came after me to go on guard and it was raining very hard and i told them i was not going on guard and they
