reported me to the Adj't for refusing to go on duty the Adj't sent for me and i would not go and he sent a file of guards after me and i hid so they did not get me that night but the next morning he sent for me and i had to go when i got there he told me i had to go on extra duty for it i told him i would go on fatigue duty but i would not go on guard and that he could not put me on guard for a crime according to the articles of war so i did not go on guard I gave him to understand that i was no fool if i was raised in the prairie so he did not put me on guard but i had to go on fatigue duty one day for it Well about that money we have not been payed yet or we could send 180 dollars there is 208 dollars coming to us but the sutters bill and our clothing bill is to come out of that We are allowed 42 dols a year for clothing and if we over run that it come out of our wage our first suit cost $27.89 cts and then we have drawed some since I have drawed 36 dollars worth of clothing i have 6 dols to draw on yet our state pay has not come yet i forgot to send mine to Knoxville harmon sent his there our state pay is 9.15 cts apiece besides mileage which is something over 9 dollars apiece I will close for this time write soon and of ten and i will do the same yours truly P H Mark to the whole family and friends
