Vicksburg Miss March the 8 Dear Father & Mother I am happy to inform you that I am well at present & hope these few lines may find you the same. We are camped here at Vicksburg waiting to start on our expedition which is just ready to start We intend to form a part of it & cannot tell you when we will be at home as I expect this expedition will be gone a good while & will close and write soon as we stop Yours truly P H Mark
