June 16 1918 Dear Sister Eva, Hello Fattie, how are you to day, just been all over the country trying to get some eggs. There getting to be a thing of the pass. The big show has started up in Austria, and Italy, if the Italians hold like the rest of the allies have it may be the end of Austria, from all reports the Austrians wont stand a defeat, that is the people of Austria. I saw our offices bet $40 the first American troops will land in New York on or before Xmas on there way home with victory. I sure hope he wins, but I cant see it that way now. The fellow who bet him said I hope you win. Do you know what [carfridges?] is I don't know whether that is spelled right or not. If you could see are ammunition
