Oct 16 1918 Miss Mayme McDermott Missouri Valley Ia Dear Mayme; Just a few words at this present crisis of flu. I am on night duty taking care of the pneumonia patients. I tell you they are some sick soldiers. We had 6 deaths out of 24 pneumonia cases. Believe me its sad to see them die with out any of there relation or friends around. Write me a long letter for I am to busy to write at the present time. With love.
