May 5, 1944 Boca Raton, Fla. Dear Dave, Well I expect you are as surprised in getting this letter from here as I am in writing it. Yep, I am here in sunny Florida basking in the warm sun shine and to top it off living in a swanky resort and hotel the army has taken over. The day we were to leave here for overseas duty they yanked 55 of us off our crews and told us we were bound for Boca Raton, to learn radar so here we are, what's ahead we don't know. To give you and idea of the size of this place my room number is 3009 so you see why I get lost every time I leave my room. We have a few days off so most of the fellows headed for Miami Beach which is just a short ways from here, expect they'll have some weird tales to tell when they
