Ray Minick - [(a Swabie) is stationed at Balboa Hospital here in Diego as well as Mildred's niece - Ensign Elizabeth Brown. Eddie Parker is out at the Marine rifle Range now and we have been to see him a couple of times. Stan Smith was a camp Miramar but transferred recently to Santa Ana Calif. Had several visits with him. Bob Shields walked into the P.O. one day at Elliott. By the way - are there really people in Iowa yet? Every time we drive our car, people yell - Hey Iowa- what part are you from? I am from so and so. Honestly there just can't be that many Iowan's out here and still be any left back there. Oh yes, there is a Don Nichola stationed here a Balboa Hospital also. Haven't seen him to talk to him yet so can't just place him. We also had a lot of fun out here with Betty Babcock (Gaibe?) and Husband Herman while they were here. Say the next time you write to [Roger?] White tell him for gods sake to take out that half pound of lead some one has hidden in his M.1. Our M.1. rifles only weigh 9 1/2 and believe me thats plenty at times. No sense in carrying more than you have to. Well - time to hit the "Sack". Keep em rolling. Hello to you, the gang and Mable from -Mildred. P.S. I am coming up in the world -made Sgt today. Your post office commando with the same nickname. Bus W. [Sgt. Nels B. Wistermark]
