October, 27, 1944 U.K. Hello Dave, This is the first Scuttlebutt I have ever received. It is really O.K. HA! Looks like Char. Morris is either bucking for a furlough or a section eight. The last time I heard of Raymond Haifely he was still here in England. Was kinda surprised to see he is in France. Also thought Clarence was still in England. As for the work I do. Am an assistant crew chief on a thunderbolt (P-47). I'll admit that England is pretty nice compared to a lot of places, but sometimes a guy gets so damn disgusted that I hope I'll never see another airplane. Have been to Edinborough, Grimsby, Cambridge, London, Colchester, and a dozen other smaller towns. London is about the nicest I guess. Maybe that is because I go with a girl from there.
