I will give you the Markets out here pork 2.50 beef 1.75 corn 13 1/4 wheat 30 to 50 potatoes 40 to 45 salt 3.00 per bn calico 25 to 30 muslin 25 to 35 blue jay 45 ticking 45 to 50 mink is worth 2.50 to 2.75 per hide pole cat 75 to 1.00 coon 1.00 to 1.50 otter 4.50 to 5.00 beaver from 4.50 to $5.00 per lb all of which is caught here but I cant catch nothing but pole cats unlucky me we have lots of Indians here and they are all armed to the teeth but they say they wont do anything till spring and then they say maybe they do some things we have a Company of 100 soldiers at Falls City now they are some that Uncle Same sent there well I expect to go soldiering in the spring for if there is to be a million and a half of men to be raised I guess I will go and give the them a lick behind I want to know if Sam Stevenson is there and if so ask him where them two roan horses is of that chalitins and tell him that he knows the deserters doom and he had better go back to his camp.Tell Jake that I would like to see some of his scatching tell Mary to write a little more tell Joe Frank wants him to come out and see him he can begin to talk some and he goes where he pleases here is some of his wool for you I want you all to write to me and direct to Elmore write soon and tell the boys to write H Mark & family to all of them
