Well Pap the Election is close at hand and I think all of our Company will vote for Stone we had but few democrats in the Company when we first came out and they have all been discharged or died. Bill Robuck was a little doubtful but John wrote him a letter and made a Republican out of him you scarcely ever hear the name Republican and democrat mentioned in the Army it is all Union and disunion when you hear a person mention a good mans name at home some one will ask is he union or traitor General Tuttle wont get many votes in our Regiment although we dont think him a copperhead but we think Stone is more capable of filling the office for which he is running if all the union papers in Iowa was to call General Tuttle a copperhead we wouldnt believe them for we have been with him on the Battlefield and know him
