to the enemy I am very well Satisfied in not getting to come home if we had got to come home now it would be the worst time in the year on account of the weather perhaps against we got off the campaign the weather will be pleasant up there.
We will be paid off at Memphis and I will express our money to  Eddyville to you so you can get it there I cannot tell how much we will send perhaps there will be over two hundred dollars of it if we get our old bounty we can send that much  and perhaps more. The  cars have been  crowded for a week  just in taking refugees and their is now as much as two train loads here and more coming in all the time they going to Iowa and Ills they are distribute of nearly everything this country will be almost desolated this road will be evacuated as far up as grand junction and perhaps further as it is of no use to our army any more as for Cornith the rebels cannot get far enough in here to hold
