it if they do they cannot support it without their communications being cut off I dont know which way we will go after we get down the river but I think we will go as far as Vicksburg or Natchez and then strike across for Mobile so as to draw some of the army from before Grant and to capture Mobile I don't know this to be so but that is merely my opinion If we have to subsist off of the country I am thinking there will be many a hungry belly before we get back but if we have to do any Jayhawking here goes for the clean thing we are what can do it if it has to be done I never was very good at it but alway mad a hand at it Well I dont see as I have anything more to write that would interest you So I had stop but on thing I must say I want you to write more or else you will get less letters I remain your undutiful cub F H Mark
