Memphis, June the 23d 1864 Dear Brother I came to the conclusion that I would write you a few lines this evening. I am well as usual and hope these few lines may find you and all the rest well. I said I was well but I am not. I am laboring under a very Severe cold and cough which I hope will be better in a few days at the farthest. We did not get any letters today from home. Ned got one from Ohio from some person he would not [text on side of page] This sheet is about full I will have stop writing pretty soon or get another sheet of paper. give my respects to all the friends and don't fail to write and let me know how crops looks and what the prospect are So no more but remain your brother P, H, Mark
