Well the mail has come and we did not get any letters so I will write a few lines more and close; the colonel has gone to Lagrange to see when he could get to take the Regt to Iowa We will know in a few days whether we will get to come home before we go on the campaign The weather here is very changeable Some day it is warm enough to go without a coat and then it gets cold enough to wear overcoats We have just drawed five days rations I will tell you what article we drawed coffee sugar tea Rice hominy Beans Peas Mess [illegible] Bacon candles Soap and Pepper also Molasses come ours and cook a week for us we have plenty of grub such as it is
