Benton Barracks St Louis April the 6 Dear father & mother I have the opportunity of writing you a few lines to let you know that we are all well & hope these few lines will find you the same We was payed off again yesterday and today we expressed it home We sent it to Eddyville to Davidl Sherwood and you can go there & get it & pay the express fee. We sent forty dollars. We drew twenty six apiece. Mr Sherwood will get it at Eddyville and you can go to his house and get it. We thought that would be the best way of sending it I did not want to send it to John Hamilton for fear he might think of the voting scrape and keep some
