4 Chicago with it still raining. We just skirted the edge of Chicago and didnt even hesitate but went on into Indiana which is an awful state It seems to be all sand and rail fences cabbages and beans with some very consumptive corn. We stopped at Fort Wayne and took our hike about 2:00 oclock monday afternoon. Fort Wayne is a pretty good place though. About 4:00 oclock we went into Ohio and about 8:00 that night we Came to Cleveland and Lake Erie runs right along by the track for about 100 miles. The next morning we had passed through the Alleghany mts and Pennsylvania and was in New York running along by Lake Erie. We stopped at Buffalo for our Hike Tuesday and Buffalo is too cold and wet for
