was like a red flag to a bull to the rest of the fellows because we sure hate the (underlined) havetobe's. How are you coming with your work? I hope you get it all done before cold weather. Have you got a cow yet you were thinking of getting one when I left. The leaves here are just beginning to turn a little and the scenery is very beautiful here the richest people live [?] here and we go hiking past mills [?] homes every-day. I dont think we will leave here for some time yet some soldiers just returned said that the war would end in Oct or Nov of this year (or that is the general opinion over there they said) I hope we get there before it does at it would be a shame to have to work so hard and not see any service.
