Monday 1917 Dear Father By the time this reaches you I expect we will be on board ship in the fleet which has been waiting just outside New york for some time nearly all the Atlantic fleet is there to act as consort to our transports It would take a couple of hundred suche to get any-where near us as there are all kinds of battle-ships destroyers and I dont know what all going with us I am eating very little as I dont want to be seasick and expect to be pretty lank by the time we reach [?] but Im not going to be seasick if I do starve to death the cook shack is all packed up
