not much of a bath but better than nothing. well dunner is over now and I have borrowed a pen and lost my pencil. I suppose Des Moines is now a nigger town 2000 of them came in here yesterday and raised h-l here last night. They are leaving soon Their band is putting on concert this afternoon. When we started to France their was a shipload of niggers in the fleet they wore the old dress uniform. all blue with white stripes and they looked very fancy. Well I guess this is all for now so goodbye Privt. H. W. Wertz, M. G. Co. 168 Inf. Camp Merritt New Jersey
