Wednesday. Sept. 19 [1945] Dear Dave, No doubt you have heard rumors that I might someday be a civilian. This is just to make it official & to tell you to scratch my name from the Scuttlebutt list. I'm now in Casual Center awaiting transportation to the States. We don't know when we'll get started but hope the first of the month will see us on the way. The army has taught me the folly of optimism but I'm allowing plenty of time & planning to be at home for Thanksgiving. Surely the red tape can be cut in that time. Say hello to everyone at the Journal for me, Dave. Here's hoping all those they're waiting for will be there very soon! Sincerely, Charles [T/3 C.W. Morris]
