Ft Fisher at a small town called Smithville, landed in the night I was attacted with chills & fever " 15th morning rainy the Dr asked me to Stop here & take care of a man who had the Small pox, I did so, we took him to a house in the outskirts of the town, two of the 26th Ky also had it & came to the same place with each an attendant we stop together, rigth wing of reg go on reconoisance
