March 16th 1897 Dear Friend Mary, I was glad to hear from you and that you had ???? I suppose you are settled and happy in your nice house you ought to be ? are in our house and it has been (?) ? than any of it(?) barn There is a cat(?) difference between a a finished house and and one just sided(?) and shingled, and the basement under ... it colder it has been very cold... ?? red(?) ... ? ... here it would ... day(?) and be so cold at ... my stairs for a ? ... the cook stove doesn't(?)... heater up ? ... will ins(?) it give my rest(?) to Soj(?) L. and ? No(?) right(?) a hug and a big kiss. good bye from Bill ?
