Gee but we sure caught hell today they took 100 men from this Co. for fatigue duty this morning and of course they got me and they took us down on the flats and set us digging ditches in water clear to our knees. I don't think it hurt me any but if some of this bunch isn't in the hospital by tomorrow night I miss my guess. but it had to be done for if those swamps were'nt drained everybody near them would be sick. I got part of my clothes the other night two pair of pants one coat. Cartridge belt canteen tooth brush hair brush, comb two suits of underware two pair of shoes.. in fact everything but hat and leggings and you cant ware the uniform until you get the leggin's. you tell Charlie Summitt we had better than five hundred men digging ditch today and Ill bet anything he could have taken a hundred men and done more than we done all day. I dont know wether we have been assigned to anything for sure yet but I think from the way things are going that we are only a depot brigade. as every once in a while they take men out of here for other
