Black berri [sic] Pickle To 7 quarts of berries take 4lbs of sugar and one quart of vinegar. Put berries, sugar, and vinegar together at night an [sic] the morning let the scald, then stand until the next day when scald again, skin the berries out, and let the syrup boil a half hour more or less. Then throw it on the berries and they are done. Take a few clove and cinnemon [sic] on a cloth and boil in the syrup
