Astor Corn Cakes. Mrs Russell 1 qt. buttermilk - 3 eggs - 1 table-spoon butter 1 teaspoon dry saleratus - a little salt - put the saleratus in the milk then the butter - salt and meal enough to make a thin batter - last the eggs - Bake 1/2 hour - this quantity makes 2 cakes Huckle-berry Cake. Mrs Smith 2 cups sour milk - 1 cup sugar - saleratus to sweeten the milk - flour enough to make a stiff batter - butter egg size - rubbed in flour salt - huckle-berries. Bannocks. #1 Wm. L. Rodman Boil 1 pt. milk & scald 1 pt meal. when this is a little cool add 1 pt cold milk 6 eggs and a teaspoon of salt, bake in shallow tins Cheese Cakes. Mrs. Perry 1/2 Lb curds 1/4 Lb Butter, the yolks of 4 eggs, sugar & lemon to taste and peel with a small cup of cream.
