Tomato. #1 Mother's Slice & lay in salt & water over night drain them well & put in clean water until soft drain well & put them into a jar - To every qt of vinegar add 1/2 Lb sugar, cloves, mace & cinnamon to the taste. Pepper Hash Alice Merriheco 1 doz seed or green peppers - and a large cabbage - chop fine - 1/4 Lb mustard seed - 1oz allspice 1/2 oz cloves - put in a jar & cover with vinegar Oysters. Mine Own Put the water & oysters to stew - let them to a boiling heat - then strain free from the liquor put the oysters in a stone pot. Take the liquor - add vinegar, allspice, cloves & peppers from the pepper sauce bottle - Boil them together; let both get cold & pour on the liquor after it is cold.
