add pepper + salt + browning if required. Stewed Steak Cut away the fat. Put 1 oz of dripping into the pan + when brown put in the steak + brown it on each side also an onion cut into slices. When they are brown sprinkle in about a tablespoonful of flour then add a breakfastcupful of cold water and a carrot + turnip + pepper + salt. Stew very gently for two hours. The liquor must not boil or the meat will be tough.
