June 16, 1945 Dear Dad & Mom: Got here safe & sound, according to plan. Had quite a nice voyage altho one day the water was kind of crooked and I felt a bit woozey. Our food was good on the boat and there was lots of candy, cigarettes etc. the distribution of that stuff is very bad saw more in a few days than I did in months while in Italy. Had ten letters from you waiting for me when I got here the most recent one written the eighth. I guess air mail is quite speedy. Was very glad to get them all. Brad discribed the country very well to you. Rains at the slightest provocation washed some clothes and they were rinsed several times before I finally brought them in half dry. It's much cleaner where I am now than Italy was. Seems finny but according to existing censorship regulations we're not allowed to tell where we are. I'm afraid my points arent going to do me any good, I've as many as Charles Kaeppel but I'm not figuring on it. I'm a little blue over the way things look right now. Im afraid I
