Saving...
along in August. We are pretty well fed now, but we don't get anything that tastes like mother's fried chicken. The physical work of camp was comparatively light this week, but study and recitations heavy. The long, long days with only seven hours sleep between grow tiresome at times, but every now and then some delightful situation makes me feel that the rewards of this disciplining are amply worth the cost. It is probably much more pleasant now than it will be in the trenches. We were shown moving pictures last night of what real war is "over there". It took a lot of the joy out of the prospect. I am going to see Charlie Chaplin tonight. I wish you could join me in seeking this highbrow form of entertainment. I've been dead earnest all week, now I'm going to laugh. Bushels of love always, Conger
