Camp Barry the 12 December 1861 Dear father and mother I take my pen in hand to write you a few lines and to improve the time it is about 4 oclock, now I have just been out drilling and I thought that I would write a few lines to night and finish it in the morning. I am Well at present. I have been sick about 5 days since I last wrote it was the first time since I enlisted and hope that it will be the last time. I have had no letter from home this week if I dont get one to night. I shall wright pretty
