Magruder and 6 thousand men mutinied when they got orders to evacuate York town and were only stoped by the promised that they would make a stand at Williamsburg and they did and it costed us many a brave fellow to a great many more than has been toll. Williamsburg is a hansome place but a strong seceshist, the country from here to Yorktown is low piny country, A great many of our stragling solders have been kild by the garillers and yestday they shot 8 of our pickets between here and Williamsburg and a company of soldiers were set after them and they were found near a swamp and they got 25 of them. but I must hury and write for I have got to go on guard. I got a letter from Emma today she said that they had not heard from the money that I sent home. I have not heard from Lon in a good while.
