Fredricksburg early yestday morning. We were on the march our Division had the advance one section of our batty and Col. Brooks brigade were sent on ahead as skirmishers when our skirmishers were in sight of Falmouth. The rebs opened on them with a batty then our skirmishers fell back until we came up then we went with our batty and Col. Brooks Brigade around in the woods and kept behind the hills so the rebs could not see us untill we came to a hill right behind Falmouth and nere the river. We took our guns up this hill and came in batty and loded them up then we run them up and opened on them. We soon got an answer
